Ascension - 2026 - Thursday, 14 May, 19:00
Thursday, 14 May, will be Ascension Day in the church. At Santa Margarita, in Menorca, we will mark the occasion with a special service of reading, prayer, and guided meditation, with a soundscape created using the monochord, shruti box, crystal singing bowls and voice — instruments chosen for their rich resonance and calming, immersive tones. Together they create a gentle atmosphere of stillness and reflection, supporting moments of contemplation, presence, and connection throughout the service. The intent is to celebrate Ascension with prayer that can really come alive by resisting the 'Jesus went away' instinct and leans into presence, fullness, and the almost paradoxical nearness-through-hiddenness of the post-Ascension Christ.

Rev. Paul Strudwick
Chaplain at Santa Margarita since June 2013.
