Easter Services

We were so pleased that Melanie Plumley could be with us over Easter to enhance our worship musically on the organ.

We held the usual services to mark the occasion.

Thursday, 2 April, Maundy Thursday

Friday, 3 April, Good Friday Vigil

Saturday, 4 April - The Great Vigil of Easter – Holy Communion service with the blessing and lighting of the new Paschal Candle.

Sunday 5 April, Easter Sunday .  As is usual the sunrise Holy Communion service was celebrated at Punta Prima beach. Interestingly some visitors had travelled quite a distance to be there at 7.15am!  There was a gentleman from Berlin, a family of 4 from Chicago who were staying in Cala’n Bosc, and Julia, who lives in Andorra but also has a home in Cala Morell and joins us occasionally at the outdoor chapel in Cala’n Bosc.

The Gwent Charity Brass Band returned for their traditional end-of-tour concert in the church on 10 April. Thoroughly enjoyable as always. Many thanks to Lana and all the band members.

Thursday 23 April – St. George’s Day.  To celebrate St. George’s Day a service was held in the chapel on the Isla del Rey followed by a Chaplaincy lunch at Caprichosa on the port at Mahon in lovely sunshine.

The Sacristy !  In other news from April, the Sacristy was demolished (it will be rebuilt to our specifications and with similar dimensions) by the builder planning new works on the adjacent plot.

Noura and Andrei.  For 2 weeks in April, we welcomed a young married couple, Noura and Andrei, two interns serving at St. George’s, Barcelona, as part of their C of E’s Ministry Experience Scheme (typically a step along the journey towards ordination.)  Andrei is Portuguese-Brazilian who has lived in Vancouver, Canada, Leuven, Belgium and the US.  Noura is originally from Syria, having lived through the war-torn recent history of her country before moving to Belgium where she and Andrei met.  They were married in the USA in 2023. It was a delight having them with us.
