NEWS FROM MAY 2026
Apologies ! This Newsletter is late (as it often is!). This time the compiler has been occupied with the recent arrival of a 5th grandchild – a little boy, Patrick Anthony, a first child for daughter, Sara (and Steven). As requested by the Chaplain’s wife a new born photo is shown here!

The Sacristy ! Building works continue to the rear of the church following the demolition of our Sacristy by the builder developing the adjacent plot. It will be rebuilt to our specifications at his cost. In the meantime we are operating from the Portakabin in the rear of the church.

Chaplaincy Lunch. In May almost record numbers of us enjoyed a very convivial lunch at Trattoria Vianello in Mahon.

Chaplaincy Council. Colin Guanaria has accepted the invitation to join the Council as the Co-opted Vice Chairman. (Please pray for David Green who is seriously ill ). The June meeting was held on Thurday 4th June. Please pray for the Council Members and the outcome of their deliberations.
Biennial Clergy Gathering in Barcelona.
In May, as in previous years, Paul attended the gathering of clergy from Northern Spain and the Balearics in Barcelona.
In the photo, the clergy are Sara Davies, Ishanesu Gushta, John Chapman, Deborah Chapman, Paul, Massimo Radice.

San Felipe. The British fortress of San Felipe (St. Philip's Castle) is a 16th-century fortress and defensive labyrinth guarding the entrance to the port of Mahón. It is located in the town of Es Castell and is renowned for its extensive, hand-dug underground tunnels. At the end of May, Paul was asked to participate in a wreath-laying ceremony in the ruined cemetery to remember those who served there.

Nathalie’s Second Bump. Many of us will remember Nathalie whose first “baby bump” was previously blessed by Paul. She is now expecting a second baby. Paul is here blessing the second bump, ably assisted by the result of the previous one!

Shawn the Sheep ! Most of us are familiar with Shawn who often makes an appearance from behind the altar (with the Chaplain’s approval of course!). He is the guardian of lost property. Here he is modelling the latest item waiting to be claimed !
